IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Master’s (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official website atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

The admissions are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done via a self-declaration. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Admission Process

Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered.

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.

English Proficiency Tests

Applicants must submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
