IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Open for International Students

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be accepted.

Proof of English proficiency through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is also necessary.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
