IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application portal will close at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for both PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to evaluate the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.
Eligibility and Selection
IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level Indian entrance exams such as GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG admissions. International examination scores like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel composed of faculty members from the relevant discipline. Applicants must also submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations, among others.
