IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Application Details

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants need to submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who can offer recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

While not always mandatory, candidates may be asked to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.

Proof of English language proficiency from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examinations is required. An interview with IIT Delhi faculty members will be part of the selection process for candidates with strong academic records.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will grant admission based on a candidate’s performance in the interview. The interview committee will comprise faculty from the relevant academic discipline.
