IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills. This information is detailed in the official admissions notification.

Eligibility Criteria

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international examinations. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
