IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi has opened applications for international students seeking admission to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills, according to the institute’s notification.

While not always mandatory, previous scores from national-level tests may be considered. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores may also fulfill requirements. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

In addition to academic records, applicants may need to submit scores from recognized English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic backgrounds will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the applicant’s chosen discipline.
