Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Master’s degree programs. International students can apply through the official IIT Delhi website. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for these postgraduate and doctoral courses. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Details
Candidates must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters.
The referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude. They will assess proficiency in their chosen field, research potential, and independent thinking skills. English language proficiency will also be evaluated.
Admission Requirements
IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level Indian entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) exam, University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE fellowship.
International applicants may also submit scores from examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and Master’s programs will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant department.
