IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. Eligible candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. All applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done via a self-declaration. Candidates also need to provide details of two referees.

Recommendation Requirements

Referees will assess candidates on multiple criteria. These include overall aptitude and field proficiency. They will also comment on research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This feedback is part of the official notification.

Academic Qualifications and Scores

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require specific test scores. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. The interview panel comprises faculty members from the relevant disciplines. English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, or TOEIC may also be required.
