IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are currently being accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The deadline for submitting applications is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency.

Application Requirements

Candidates must provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. Referees’ comments are a part of the official notification.

Academic and Test Scores

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Department of Science and Technology’s Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with a strong academic record will receive an invitation to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant academic discipline. The interview committee assesses the candidate’s suitability for the program.
