IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27 .
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
In addition, candidates must provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
