IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills, according to official information.
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores may also be considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty from their chosen discipline.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
