IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Eligible candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window is open for admissions for the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
To be considered, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Candidates are required to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
