IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. Admissions are for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International test scores from GRE or GMAT are also accepted.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
