IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Process
Interested candidates must apply online. The application portal is located at international.iitd.ac.in.
Applicants need to submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Admission Requirements
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
Admission will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
