IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Details

The program is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a statement of English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will evaluate candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International test scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

The final selection will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. Proficiency in English language tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examinations may also be required.
