IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English language proficiency.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Required Scores
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also accepted:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
