IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year.
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Process Details
Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee.
English Proficiency Requirements
Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
