IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year. Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Eligibility may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also considered:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International students may also need to submit scores from English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The interview committee will evaluate candidates for admission.
