IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals can apply for admission to PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency. This is typically done through a self-declaration.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to submit recommendation letters. The referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Standardized test scores may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) can also be submitted.

Selection Process

Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. Proficiency in English language tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination may also be required.
