IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to submit a self-declaration of their English language skills.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills, according to official notifications.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International applicants may also submit GRE or GMAT scores.
English language proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other equivalent tests may also be considered.
Admission Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
