IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

The application window closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Academic Qualifications and Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
