IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Interested candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two individuals who can write recommendation letters.

Admission Process Details

The referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is according to the official IIT Delhi notification.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) tests, University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Candidates will undergo an interview process.

IIT Delhi will invite candidates with strong academic records for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a faculty committee in the relevant discipline. Candidates must also provide scores from English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
