IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. Prospective students can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.

Admission Details

The admission window is open for the academic year 2026-27. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a self-declaration confirming their English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. The recommendations will focus on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Academic and Test Score Requirements

For PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. Accepted national tests include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.

International applicants may submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Proficiency in English language tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is also required.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. The panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
