IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application window closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Eligible foreign nationals can apply via the official website: international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Requirements

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Academic and Language Proficiency

To be considered for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. Accepted Indian entrance exams include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. English language proficiency must be demonstrated through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on candidate performance during an interview. Students with strong academic records will receive an invitation. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
