IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal is online atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. Non-Indian nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.
International exam scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
English Proficiency Tests
Candidates must also submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include:

- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
- Other approved language tests
