The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are being accepted until March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who can provide recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This assessment will be detailed in their recommendation letters.
Admission Requirements
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for admission. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Additionally, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs for international students will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
