IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. Interested foreign nationals can apply online via the institute’s official portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through a self-declaration. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude. They will also comment on proficiency in the chosen field, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills, according to official notifications.

Admission Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered.

IIT Delhi will base admissions on candidate performance during an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with faculty from their intended discipline. Proficiency in English language tests, such as TOEFL, IELTS, or TOEIC, is also a requirement. Applicants may need to submit scores from these tests.
