IIT Delhi has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Details
The application window closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who can supply recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills, according to official notification.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission requirements may include scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE awards for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admission decisions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
