IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Applications are accepted for the academic years 2026-27. Interested students should visit the official website at international.iitd.ac.in to submit their applications. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on the deadline date.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must declare their English language proficiency.

Applicants must provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi may require scores from entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program is also considered.

International examination scores are also relevant. Applicants may submit scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Admission offers will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by faculty committees in the relevant disciplines.

Proficiency in English must be demonstrated. Candidates must submit scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also accepted.
