IIT Delhi has opened admissions for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for international students . Applications are accepted through the official website at international.iitd.ac.in.
The application deadline for the academic year 2026-2027 is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Non-Indian nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from examinations like:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores may also be considered, including:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Candidates must also submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. A statement of English proficiency is required.
Selection Process
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee assesses the candidate’s potential for research and independent thinking.
