IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in. The submission window closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They will also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

For PhD and PG programs, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores may also be required. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. This process evaluates their suitability for advanced study and research at IIT Delhi.
