IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. Applications are submitted online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Requirements

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude and research potential.

Admission Process

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT are also accepted.

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
