IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline for foreign national students is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application

The application window is open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 . Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Admission Requirements

Referees will evaluate candidates on their overall aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. Accepted tests include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Additionally, proof of English language proficiency is required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct interviews. Candidates with strong academic records are invited to these interviews. Admission decisions will be made following these evaluations.
