IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can supply recommendation letters.

The referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities. Recommendations will be submitted by the referees directly.

Academic and Language Proficiency

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) exam, University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores are also considered. Candidates may submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will grant admissions based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
