IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals can apply for the academic year 2026-27 through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
Application Details
The application portal will close at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 . Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Required Submissions
Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission Criteria
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.
Interview and Language Proficiency
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee. Applicants must also provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
