Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year. Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national eligibility tests like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores, such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), may also be considered. Applicants must also provide scores from English language proficiency tests, including TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
