IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , by 4 PM. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on their overall aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. These details are outlined in the official admission notification.
Admission Criteria
IIT Delhi considers various scores for admission. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are mandatory.
Selection Process
Final selection for the programs will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. The panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
