The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal: international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude. They will also assess proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking will be evaluated. Oral and written English proficiency is also a factor, according to the official notification.
Eligibility Criteria and Scores
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other accepted tests are CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. These are considered for PhD and PG program eligibility at IIT Delhi.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. An interview panel will comprise faculty members from the relevant discipline.
