IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency. They are required to submit a self-declaration of their language skills.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to submit recommendation letters. The letters will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills. IIT Delhi requires this information as part of the official notification.

Academic and Entrance Exam Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require specific entrance exam scores. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE scores. International examinations such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

International applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. This process aims to evaluate candidates thoroughly.
