IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply until March 30, 2026 . The application portal is live on the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Individuals who are not Indian citizens are eligible. This includes those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency.

Two referees are required to submit recommendation letters. These letters will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Admission Requirements

Candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) schemes.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency must be demonstrated. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
