IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details for International Students

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic years 2026-2027 .

The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal will close at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is according to the official notification.

Eligibility Criteria and Tests

Eligibility may require scores from national entrance exams like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International applicants may also submit scores from examinations such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency tests are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews.

The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
