The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. Applications are being accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Deadline and Eligibility
The application window closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Indian Standard Time. Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Admission Process Details
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills, according to the official notification.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance examinations like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International examination scores, such as GRE and GMAT, are also considered.
Interview and Language Proficiency
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
Proficiency in English is mandatory. Applicants must submit scores from standardized English language tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.
