IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are open to foreign nationals for the academic year 2026-27.

The application portal will remain open until March 30, 2026 . Candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.

Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Admission Process

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty committees from their chosen disciplines.

English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
