IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs to international students . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility and Requirements
Eligibility is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They will need to submit a self-declaration of their English skills.
Candidates must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will be asked to submit recommendation letters. The letters will assess the applicant’s aptitude. They will also comment on the candidate’s field proficiency and research potential.
Academic and Language Proficiency Scores
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require specific test scores. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) scores. University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) or DST INSPIRE scores are also considered.
International examination scores are accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Strong academic records are required for interview invitation. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interviews.
The application portal will close at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026. All submissions must adhere to this deadline.
