Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application window closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Admissions are for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Process
Candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in. A statement or self-declaration of English proficiency is required. Applicants must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
The notification states referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills. Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from national tests like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores such as GRE and GMAT are also accepted. IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance.
Interview and Language Proficiency
Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant disciplines.
Submission of scores from English language proficiency tests is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
