Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations regarding the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program.
For international students, scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may be considered. English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examinations are also required.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on the candidate’s performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will receive an invitation to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will assess their suitability for the program.
