Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.
Application Process
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026.
Applicants need to provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also submit names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission requirements may include scores from national and international examinations. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.
International exam scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The committee assesses candidates for their research potential and suitability for the program.
