Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. Prospective students can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Eligibility
Applications are open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency.
Application Requirements
Applicants need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) is also an option.
International examination scores may also be considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
