Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
How to Apply
Interested candidates must submit applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is outlined in the official admission notification.
Eligibility Criteria
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
