IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. The admission portal will close at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Prospective students can find application details on the official website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Some applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Proof of English language proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is mandatory.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an interview invitation. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
